Referees and assistant referees

All competitive games need referees or assistant referees (lines-person). They are split into two categories based on the age of the players:

  1. Miniroos (Under 6 to Under 12)
  2. Junior / Senior (Under 13 and upwards)

MiniRoos referees

If you are a Narangba Eagles player and meet the following criteria, you could become a MiniRoos (under 6-12) referee:

  • Play in Under 13 or above this season (you need to be available Saturday mornings)
  • Can attend a 2 hour training and testing night
  • Can act responsibly on and off the field
  • Can attend games punctually when rostered on Saturday mornings
  • Will contact the Referee Coordinator several days in advance if unavailable.

Junior/ senior referee

Becoming a junior or senior referee has many advantages. It allows you to get paid while you work outdoors, and gives you an opportunity to work with great people with common interests. 

To be eligible, you must:


Adults and/or parents are encouraged to take-up refereeing.
